The ARCHES 23 cohort is a unique Peer-Mentorship Circle comprised of early-career historically excluded research faculty across schools at UCSF who were specifically nominated by UCSF leadership. All ARCHES 23 faculty were recently hired and were provided significant start-up funding from their school or department. ARCHES aims to establish yearly cohorts using ARCHES 23 as a model, with the goal of providing rising star early career faculty members with support, resources, and a sense of community. This first cohort was a pilot with engagement with the School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, and two departments in the School of Medicine (Emergency Medicine and Family and Community Medicine).
The purpose of this cohort is to enhance retention by facilitating connections among cohort members, their peers, the ARCHES community and core faculty, and UCSF leadership. Cohort members have the opportunity to discuss their needs and challenges, network, receive sponsorship, and participate in personalized peer- and near-peer mentorship and guidance. Additionally, the cohort receives administrative assistance with scheduling program-related meetings and events.
